Gateway laptop keyboards come in a variety of sizes and configurations. The keyboard's size is mainly dictated by the size of the laptop or notebook. For example, Gateway's LT series, with a small 10.1" screen, requires efficient use of space, as the laptop itself is very compact. Gateway still manages to fit a full-size keyboard into its LT series by utilizing almost the entire width of the laptop surface and by removing unnecessary keys. These functions are still available, however, through the use of the function key, which allows many keys to have secondary functions when pressed along with the function key.
As laptops and notebooks become increasingly complex, with a variety of multimedia features and other software features, the keyboard becomes even more important as the control center for everything your laptop can do. Gateway laptop keyboards feature a variety of hotkeys and multimedia keys to help accomplish tasks and control your media more quickly and easily. Many Gateway laptops have play and pause, volume controls, and fast-forward and reverse keys integrated into the keyboard, so that watching and controlling media is simple. In most cases, these keys are recognized by many different media players, so you have your choice of which media player you want to use.
Gateway laptop keyboards come in two main varieties. The first is the typical curved key laptop keyboard, where each key is right next to the other. This has been the standard for many years for laptops. The second type is what is referred to as the "chiclet" keyboard, where there is separation between each key, and the keys are more flat. Both offer advantages, and users usually prefer one or the other for different reasons. If possible, it is best to try out both types before purchasing a laptop, to see which appeals to you personally. |
