| Upgrading the memory in your IBM-Lenovo laptop or notebook is one of the easiest upgrades you can make. Not only is a laptop memory upgrade easy to perform, but it will likely make a noticeable impact on system performance and allow you to run more programs at once. Running programs are stored in the computer's RAM, or Random Access Memory. When the computer starts to run out of memory, it stores the extra data in a paging file on the hard drive, which is slower than storing it in RAM. Therefore, upgrading the total amount of memory in your IBM-Lenovo laptop means the computer can run more programs at once, and will use the paging file less, resulting in better performance for running programs.
The most difficult part of the memory upgrade process is probably just ensuring that the notebook memory you are buying is compatible with your particular model of laptop or notebook. For this reason, it is highly recommended that you use a laptop parts locator tool online to ensure compatibility. Installing the memory on most IBM-Lenovo laptops and notebooks is usually as simple as removing the memory access panel from the bottom of the laptop, removing the current memory modules, replacing them with the new modules, and reattach the access panel. Once installed, ensure that the operating system is recognizing the full amount of installed memory. |
