In the year 1991, when Microsoft Windows was barely a background application that could be launched from Dos shell, IBM was devoting a large amount of resources to form Lexmark International. It was successful, and by 1995 Lexmark stocks were being bought and sold on Wall Street, with their headquarters based in Lexington Kentucky. At the present time, Lexmark holds revenues of $4.53 billion.

Lexmark has been operating from their warehouse in Lexington, Kentucky since the days of the dot matrix printer, and they revolutionized the industry by offering the first Inkjet Printer for under $100, a first in the industry, establishing Lexmark as a brand consumers would remember. The next "first" was to offer a photo printer that could work as its own standalone model. Later, other companies would follow in its footsteps in that aspect, including Kodak, who offered such a printer recently for around $50 USD.

Though there are many different Lexmark printers on the market, most of them multifunction units featuring printer, scanner, and fax all in one, they are most well known for their business printers, from form printers to towering laser printers capable of printing out hundreds of documents very quickly while connected to a network of computers.

Lexmark works very hard to make sure that every customer has access to affordable printers, and they come in all shapes and sizes, the business models holding up to 1000 sheets of paper. Some of the best recent models include the C534dn Color Laser printer, which is geared for businesses and boasts 256 megabytes of ram, and the C780dn which holds 600 sheets and has a processor speed of 800 mhz, which is roughly equivalent to a powerful machine such as Microsoft's XBOX gaming console.

From its humble beginnings to its position as a dominant power in the printer industry, Lexmark has strived to bring the public the best product for the lowest price, and prides itself on a commitment to customer support.
