Panasonic laptop batteries are the portable power sources for their laptops and notebooks. These batteries incorporate all of the advancements that have been made in battery technology. Most Li-Ion batteries currently use a graphite anode, which limits the capacity of batteries to around 3.1Ah. By switching to a silicon alloy anode this capacity can be pushed much higher, and Panasonic's current improvement measures 30% more capacity at 4.0Ah.

If a Panasonic laptop battery can hold more charge in the same space, it then allows manufacturers to have two advantages. The obvious initial concept would be the ideal longer battery life. With this new battery, a laptop with a 4 hour battery life is extended to a little over 5 hours, and 8 hour battery life creeps up to over 10 hours. The second advantage is batteries taking up less space while offering the same battery life. This reduces the weight of a device and allows for other components to be included in the same space and the same time.
