| Sony's VAIO series of laptops have always had a focus on multimedia. For this reason, it is important to have a high-quality LCD screen to view and edit a wide range of multimedia. Sony laptop LCD screens feature some of the newest technologies to bring the user the best viewing experience possible.
With Sony's XBRITE technology, users get the latest in laptop LCD screen technology. XBRITE uses a glossy screen for the clearest, brightest picture available. However, glossy screens tend to be more susceptible to glare and reflections than matte screens. With XBRITE, an anti-glare coating is added to the screen, but the coating is almost completely transparent, allowing for all the benefits of a glossy screen, without much of the glare and the resulting eye strain. This allows for the best viewing experience and the most versatility.
Sony laptop LCD screens come in a variety of sizes. Its smallest models include an extremely small 4.5" screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 (WSVGA) in its Micro PC series. In contrast, the largest screen is 18.4" and features a full-HD resolution of 1920 x 1080. This is the same resolution as 1080 HD televisions, making this screen optimal for viewing and editing HD content.
Sony LCD screens use liquid crystal technologies, with an Active TFT matrix for color switching. Many models incorporate a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) backlight, and some newer models use an LED (light emitting diode) for a backlight. The LED backlight has the advantage of consuming less power and being brighter than CCFL backlights.
When selecting a replacement for a Sony LCD screen, be sure the replacement screen is compatible with your exact model of laptop.
